Will You Be Annie’s Valentine

Written by:

Throughout history, Valentine’s Day has been a symbol of loving relationships that can overcome even the most arduous challenges. While traditionally the special day refers to humans, there are so many deserving but homeless animals at Northshore Humane Society who are yearning to be your valentine this year!

One of those loving animals is Annie, a beautiful large breed mix whose life just a few months ago was hanging in the balance. Annie was abandoned and left homeless on the streets, injured and carrying several baby puppies. This young mother is also suffering from heartworm disease, a disease if left untreated is always fatal. Annie has since given birth to five adorable puppies and has undergone surgery to her injured leg. The next step in her second chance journey will be months of heartworm treatment to finally get her healthy and ready for a forever home!

With your support, we can rescue and treat dogs like Annie every day. Sadly, because many people are unaware of the dire effects of heartworms, we rescue an average of eight dogs per month with this deadly disease. As a no-kill shelter, we believe every animal deserves a second chance and a healthy and happy life. Your donation will ensure our homeless animals receive the medical care they so desperately deserve, because love and the hope of a forever family should be the only thing in their hearts this Valentine’s Day. Please give now!

Donations can be made by visiting our website at northshorehumane.org or mailing a check to Northshore Humane Society, 20384 Harrison Ave. Covington, LA 70433.
