New Doors We Will Open in 2021
My administration is looking forward to the many initiatives which we will continue to build on during 2021. Our Comprehensive Plan Update — New Directions 2040 — is now underway. We continue to seek citizens’ input and collect information to provide to our 21-member Steering Committee. All citizens may learn more about the Plan and give input at www.newdirections2040.com.
Our Revenue Review Committee, tasked with offering an objective view of our fiscal challenge, continues to meet to deliberate funding options and develop recommendations to present to us later this year.
Safe Haven is making impacts in the Behavioral Health Community. The Safe Haven Health and Wellness Complex is staffed, and the licensing process is nearing completion. Last month, the artwork procured from local artists after the 2020 Call to Artists, was installed in the Health and Wellness Complex. The new Training and Education Center construction project moved forward as well.
Roads and drainage improvements are top priorities again this year. In addition to our parish-funded projects, we look forward to the continuation of collaborative projects with the state, including the Tammany Trace Tunnel and La. Highway 59 curve alignment, and the widening of I-12. These multi-million-dollar investments will improve our travel, enhance our safety, and ultimately improve our quality of life.
The St. Tammany Fishing Pier in Slidell and the St. Tammany Fairgrounds in Covington will see improvements completed in 2021.
My administration will continue to work to earn the trust of citizens, increase transparency, and make service to our citizens a priority in 2021 and beyond. Have a safe and happy New Year
