A NEW TWO STORY, state of the art, class A, medical office and outpatient building with covered patient drop off and pick up is currently being built adjacent to Cypress Pointe Hospital in Hammond, Louisiana. The building is approximately 35,000 square feet and connects to Cypress Pointe Hospital with completion scheduled for December of 2019. Catalyst Healthcare Real Estate, a Pensacola based healthcare real estate company, is the developer on the 10 million dollar investment project which offers custom designed suites to meet each tenant’s specific need with generous allowances allocated towards the design and construction of the tenant improvements.
Glenda Dobson, president and chief executive officer stated, “Currently, the physicians working at Cypress Pointe Hospital have offices all over the community. The medical office building will offer them closer accessibility next to the hospital so they can provide comprehensive patient care in one location.” “As we have more physicians wanting office space in Hammond, we will have office space available for them on our Cypress campus,” Dobson said. There is room on the property to build another building if there is a need for more office space in the future.
Eighty percent of the MOB is currently leased, with an Urgent Care and a retail pharmacy as anchors to the first floor. Other office space being built out are Ortho-spine and Orthopedic suites and Cypress Pointe Pain Management on the second floor. There is also interest in Physical Therapy and Behavioral Health for suites in the complex.
A MASTER PLAN
A master plan for the Cypress Pointe campus is being done in anticipation of more growth in the future. Part of the need for the master plan is the addition of a hotel on the Cypress Pointe Hospital campus. They are in the development stages of the hotel that would be a name-brand hotel that is open to anyone needing to stay in the Hammond area. There is no major hotel in an area that has two sports parks, an airport, and Interstate 12 nearby. The hotel would also provide a destination location for patients’ families to stay overnight if they are from out of town or out of state.
“We want to make this an all-encompassing medical complex,” said Dr. Chad Domangue, Member Manager of Cypress Pointe Hospital and a Board Certified Neurologist and Pain Management Specialist. The medical office building is the first step of the overall master plan as it will strategically benefit the hospital by providing a convenient one-stop shop for physicians and patients.
OTHER AMENITIES
As part of the overall master plan, other mixed use developments will be incorporated into the Cypress Pointe Hospital campus footprint with unique amenities targeted to the specific Cypress clientele. Restaurants will be needed to support the hotel traffic and other residential growth in the area. A 300-unit apartment complex and Providence Ridge, offering single-family move-in-ready homes, has also been developed east of the hospital campus.
