August Cocktails – Stay Calm and Keep Cool!

August is hot! You can stay calm and cool with these summer cocktails that will put a smile on your face and a send a chill down your spine. Swing on the porch or lounge poolside as you begin to bid a fare adieu to the long, hot days of summer.

Re-Freshen Up – 4 ounces vodka, 1 ounce Pimm’s No. 1, 2 ounces fresh lemon juice, 4 ounces simple syrup, 2 ounces chilled lemon-lime soda, dash of hot sauce,thin-sliced lemon wheels for garnish. Combine vodka, Pimm’s, lemon juice, simple syrup and hot sauce in a container and refrigerate one hour until chilled. Strain into an ice-filled rocks glass. Stir in the lemon-lime soda and garnish with lemon wheels.

Pink Pleasantries – 2 ounces fresh ruby red grapefruit juice, 1½ ounces of vodka, ½ small lemon, juiced, ½ ounce simple syrup, dash of sea salt, sprig of rosemary, grapefruit segments for garnish. Add the grapefruit juice, vodka, lemon juice, simple syrup, rosemary sprig and dash of sea salt to a cocktail shaker and shake until thoroughly chilled. Pour into a glass and garnish with a sprig of rosemary and a grapefruit segment.

Summerset – 1½ ounces vodka, 2 ounces mixed berry juice, 1 ounce pomegranate juice, ¾ ounce fresh lemon juice, ¾ ounce hibiscus syrup, 1 ounce chilled club soda. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add the mixed berry juice, lemon juice and Hibiscus Syrup to an ice-filled cocktail shaker and shake well. Strain into a highball glass with ice, then stir in the club soda.

Cool As A Cucumber – 2 ounces cucumber vodka, ¼ cup tonic water, 1 tablespoon cucumber juice, 1 teaspoon fresh lime juice, 1 tablespoon simple syrup, cucumber and fresh mint leaves for garnish. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and add all ingredients. Shake for 20-30 seconds until chilled. Pour mixture into a tall glass filled with ice. Garnish with cucumber and mint.
