Will Karter Be Your Pet Valentine?

Historically, Valentine’s Day has been a symbol of loving relationships that can overcome even the most arduous challenges. While traditionally a special day for humans, Northshore Humane Society has a deserving, homeless pet yearning to be your valentine!

One of those loving pets is Karter. She’s a precious, small-breed mix whose life was hanging in the balance just a few months ago. Karter was abandoned and left homeless at a municipal shelter while suffering from heartworm disease. Left untreated, heartworm disease is always fatal. Due to limited funds and resources, a pet with costly medical needs like Karter is oftentimes at a higher risk for euthanasia.

With the support of our community, we are able to rescue and treat dogs at risk every day. Sadly, because many people are unaware of the dire effects of heartworms, we rescue an average of 8 dogs per month with this deadly disease. As a no-kill shelter, we believe every pet deserves a second chance and a healthy and happy life. Donations ensure our homeless animals receive the medical care they so desperately deserve. We believe love and the hope of a forever family should be the only thing in their hearts this Valentine’s Day!

Together, we can save even more hearts! Please give now. Donations can be made by visiting our website at northshorehumane.org or mailing a check to Northshore Humane Society, 20384 Harrison Ave. Covington, LA 70433.
