Dr. Elizabeth Kinsley – A Tribute

Written by:

Dr. Elizabeth Kinsley knew she wanted to be a surgeon since she was five years old, and her resolve never wavered. While a student of art and sewing, she developed a love of symmetry and refined her technical skills. Her many patients benefited from her eye for beauty and her exacting ability to execute that vision.

Multi-talented, she received an athletic scholarship to play volleyball for Tulane University where she excelled, and went on to receive her undergraduate degree with honors in 1983. Dr. Kinsley was accepted to Tulane University Medical School where she obtained the Legislative Scholarship and the Golden Scalpel Award and completed her Internship and Residency at Tulane University Affiliated Hospitals. She was later accepted to Louisiana State University for a fellowship in Hand and Micro-vascular Surgery which she completed in 1993.

Dr. Kinsley went into private practice in New Orleans in 1993 specializing in hand surgery. After a year of private practice, she was accepted to the University of Tennessee Health Science Center to complete her Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery training. She went on to obtain board certification in the American Board of Surgery as well as the American Board of Plastic Surgery. After completion in 1996, Dr. Kinsley opened her practice in Covington, Louisiana where she continued to serve the community for the last 25 years.

Dr. Elizabeth Kinsley was a dedicated and loving mother, friend, co-worker and physician. She will be greatly missed by all, and will never be forgotten.
