Wish Upon a Star Theme Brings Celebrities, Music, Fun and Food
Carnival in Covington is proud to announce that our own Hayley Arceneaux from the Northshore will serve as Grand Marshall on Mardi Gras Day — Fat Tuesday, March 1, 2022! Hayley is best known for her trip to space on September 16, 2021, on Space X’s first private spaceflight Inspiration4. Also being represented are our Honorary Grand Marshals, Northshore Medical Heros from St. Tammany Health System, Lakeview Regional Medical Center, Slidell Memorial Hospital and Ochsner Medical Center-North Shore. Each will have a chosen representative from the medical community who went above and beyond during the Covid pandemic. Hayley and our Hometown Medical Heroes will all come together to perfectly fulfill the overall theme of the parade: WISH UPON A STAR.
A crowd favorite, the Saints Superfans are returning to this year’s parade. They are known as the costumed die-hards fans that can be seen roaming the Dome during games. Superfans will rock the parade and the after party at the Covington Trailhead. “This is a spectacular lineup to lead the parade,” said Councilman at Large Larry Rolling, President of the Carnival in Covington Parade. “We are humbled to have Hayley, our Medical Heroes and the Superfans participate and support our expanding, family-friendly Mardi Gras Day of fun,” added Rolling. “And, equally exciting, Soul Revival will supply the music at our Tammany Gras Free-For-All After-Party.”
Covington’s Mardi Gras Parade rolls through the city’s historic downtown at 10 a.m. on March 1, 2022, with the after-party, Tammany Gras, starting at noon at The Covington Trailhead, 419 N. New Hampshire Street. Tammany Gras lasts until 4 p.m. and will feature a costume contest, food, beverages, music, dancing, second lines, activities for children and much more.
