In honor of our 30th Anniversary, we decided to take a different spin on our community spotlight feature to tell you the 30 things we love about the Northshore.
In no particular order:

1. Biking on the Tangi Trail and the Tammany Trace

2. Sunsets on the Mandeville Lakefront

3. Bird watching at the Northlake Nature Center

4. Camping at Fontainebleau and Fairway-Riverside State Parks

5. Listening to music at The Abita Springs Opry, Ruby’s Roadhouse and the Dew Drop Dance and Social Hall

6. Attending Weekend Festivals including Three Rivers Art, Wooden Boat, Crab and Strawberry Festivals

7. Supporting our many fundraisers such as the Chef Soirée, Sweet Soirée, Celebration and Ultimate Tailgate to name a few

8. Getting in touch with nature at the Global Wildlife Center, Honey Island Swamp Tours and Insta-gator Ranch

9. Enjoying local beer and touring the facilities of the Abita Brewery, Covington Brewhouse, Gnarly Barley Brewing Co. and Old Rail Brewing Company

10. Skateboarding at Dreamland Skate Center in Hammond

11. Keeping our kids cool and entertained at the Kids Konnection at Koop Drive

12. Visiting the shops and galleries in Historic Downtown Covington

13. Antiquing in Olde Town Slidell and Ponchatoula

14. Cultural Season in Slidell, from LPO concerts to art shows and movie nights

15. Free concerts at the Trailheads, Lakefront, Heritage Park, Bogue Falaya Park and Columbia Street Landing

16. Summer strolls during White Linen Night and Hot August Nights

17. Listening to jazz and sipping wine at the Pontchartrain Vineyard

18. Saturday night football games at Southeastern Louisiana University, Go Lions!

19. St. Tammany Art Association and their events, Spring for Art and Fall for Art

20. Hammond Regional Arts Center

21. Enjoying our local theater groups and performances at 30 by Ninety Theatre, Playmakers, North Star Theater, The Slidell Little Theater, Cutting Edge Theater in Slidell, Columbia Theater in Hammond and The Center of Performing Arts

22. Saturday mornings, watching our kids play soccer at the local recreation centers of Coquille Sports Complex, Pelican Park and Chappapeela Sports Park

23.Fishing on the Sunset Pointe and St. Tammany Fishing Piers

24. Paddleboarding and kayaking on the bayous and rivers

25. Abita Springs, Camellia City, Covington and Hammond Farmers Markets

26. Our excellent schools: from our public school system to a myriad of private schools

27. Learning about Louisiana’s Maritime History at the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Maritime Musem

28. Appreciating the majestic beauty of our Live Oak Trees

29. Meeting friends at the many fine dining restaurants throughout the area
