Enterprising Woman Felicia Schimpf knows we all use a little more NEATness in our lives? A neatnik herself, Felicia Schimpf has made a career out of helping others gain calmness and efficiency in their homes by organizing their living spaces through her company, NEAT Method. Felicia was the first to bring the home organizing franchise to Louisiana after using the company herself. “My husband Ryan and I relocated dozens of times during his professional baseball career. When we were in San Diego, NEAT Method was recommended to me for help with yet another move. I loved the concept and the results.”
Felicia and Ryan met in high school while they attended St. Scholastica Academy and St. Paul’s respectively. They graduated from LSU, got married and during his 10-year professional baseball tenure relocated regularly. Now, with three children, Kenley, Reed and Beau, the Schimpfs are back home for good.
Felicia is now carrying on the entrepreneurial spirit her grandfathers passed down to her. “Each of them is an inspiration to me. At just 14, my dad’s father immigrated from Mexico with his widowed mother and eight siblings. He soon met my grandmother. 13 years later, with a family of six and just $800, he started a tile and stone company that would prosper for over 50 years. I spent my childhood summers with them at their Texas ranch where I learned it takes hard work to build a business.”
Her Northshore roots came from her mother’s side of the family, all who attended St. Scholastica Academy and St. Paul’s. Her maternal grandfather contributed to the parish’s growth. “He was a developer and invested in this area’s future by building homes in Covington Country Club, developing commercial real estate and running a farm in Folsom. I was always searching for my best career path in life, but knew I wanted to be an entrepreneur like my grandfathers. It’s in my blood. My mom instilled in me a love of organization and order. So when I found NEAT Method and saw how it worked to help people, it was a perfect fit for me.”
From her father, Felicia inherited athleticism, playing soccer and running track during high school and now enjoying a variety of workout activities. She is also a self-described people pleaser. That combination of traits helped her business grow quickly and earn her The Northshore’s Best title for 2021 and 2022 – an impressive feat for a company just established in 2019. “Our services are life-changing for clients because organizing their homes and lives is transformative for them. Even the kids get on board, and everyone enjoys the calm it brings to what was once chaos. I do unpacking, carry heavy loads, climb ladders and more. It can be physically exhausting, but it’s very fulfilling.
Many of her clients use NEAT Method’s relocation services. “We’re in over 100 markets across the US and Canada, so clients can use us on both ends of their move. White glove service means clients don’t lift a finger. I have a team of nine including three project managers. We sit down and consult to understand our clients’ needs. For a move, we methodically pack for them and can coordinate moving services or arrange storage units. We handle a variety of logistics and work with qualified, insured vendors such as handymen and interior designers. When we organize spaces, we can do an enitre home or one room at a time. We sort items and work with donation centers so clients know their items are going to good use. We bring in bins, baskets, organizers, inserts and labels to create new systems.”
Felicia says organizing is like solving a puzzle. For example, while each kitchen is laid out differently, her method is to start with a few key points that allow everything else to fall into place. The team gains an understanding of how the family operates and lives in the home. Important considerations are discussed, like who in the household may be left-handed or if the kids will be allowed access to snacks. The space plan begins with logical placement of kitchenware and tools with meticulous attention given to each area of the room and how it is best organized for maximum efficiency.
A large factor of her success is the trust she shares with clients. “We take confidentiality very seriously, and proudly honor privacy. Our finished product speaks for itself. We have our own line of beautiful organizing products and act as behind-the-scenes interior designers. We match the aesthetic of the home and carry that style throughout the pantry, bathrooms, closets and more.”
In this community that means so much to her family, Felicia says it’s important to make her neighbors happy both through work and family life. “We love this community and are having a great time being involved with our kids at St. Peter, attending sports games at St. Paul’s and giving back at events like St. Scholastica Academy’’s career day and Miracle League Network fundraisers. I’m proud of winning The Northshore’s Best two years in a row and will continue to make our community better and our clients highly satisfied.”
